Spring Break '11

Mom came to visit for spring break this year!  We were so busy and did so many things but it was a lot of fun.  I got to check off another thing on my bucket list which was also really exciting!  This was hot air ballooning!

It was really early and I was not in the mood for pictures...

but needless to say...it was pretty incredible

The highest we went was about a mile up, which in a small basket that only comes to your chest is REALLy high!

I was ready to be back on the ground.  We almost tipped over as we came in for the landing...best part of the whole ride!

Then we got to drink our mimosa's. Yummm

After hot air ballooning we took trips to Flagstaff, the Grand Canyon, and Sedona

My friend Sara and her boyfriend Mario met up with us in Sedona.  That's the life-size cardboard cutout of the guy from dirty jobs :)

And finally we went to Tempe Town Lake for some awesome Christian music

Well, it looks like I passed my Pharmacy Technician Certification Examination!  I am very happy that it is done and out of the way and I can't wait to come home and train for it!  May 16th will be my first day of work!  Can't wait!

So So Busy

Well I have been busier than I have been in a long time.  There's been so many times that I've wanted to sit down and blog but there just hasn't been the time.  There still isn't!  Spring break just ended and my mom was in town.  I'll get some pictures and stories up of that once I can find the time.  School is getting crazier than ever, plus my certification test is in TWO WEEKS!!! So close!  I don't even have time to comprehend what is happening in my life before the next thing happens.  I will be excited to get home for the summer and just focus on work.  Can't wait to see everyone

The Joy of Cooking

I've never really been a good cook.  It is something I enjoy doing and want to be really good at, but I haven't had the practice for it. I LOVE to bake, but cooking is a whole different story.  Last night I attempted a home-made Italian spaghetti sauce and it didn't turn out too bad.

With some stir-fry veggies and a delicious piece of garlic toast it was quite tasty.  I think I will keep looking of a marinara sauce though, I'm not a huge fan of the big chunks of tomato.  I'm excited to continue my journey of learning how to cook.  If you have any recipes that are your favorites I would love to hear from you :)

A joyful melody

I sat on my futon this morning, reading about Diabetes Mellitus, when all of a sudden I heard something coming from outside.  It was something that I haven't heard for a while and I didn't realize I missed it.  It was the sound of a bird.  It was outside our apartments singing and I loved it.  The sound of birds is a very summery, very homey feeling for me.  It is one of my favorite sounds in the whole world and I never realize how much I miss it until it comes back.  Instantly it just makes me feel peaceful.

Change the World

I want to change the world.  Basically, that is my goal in life.  That's the reason I decided to go into nursing.  I felt like I could use nursing to change the world.  Today is one of those days where I am spending my energy trying to find a way to change the world without having to have a degree.  I don't like school.  I don't like Flagstaff.  I don't want to be here anymore and I feel like I'm wasting my time here.  My school work is frustrating me like crazy and it's making me want to quit school and travel the world, changing it.  The problem is, I don't know how to do that without a nursing degree, or a degree in general.  I don't care about APA format, or grammar, or anything that goes along with it.  Yet that is what I am doing in one whole class for one whole semester.  I hate it.  All I want to do is change the world.  Isn't there some way I can do that without having a degree??
